FAQ

Will Augma stabilize implants placed with crestal residual bone, since it is a cement?

The initial stability for any implant is due to placement in the residual bone. The purpose of bone graft cement is to regenerate bone around the implant. It has no continuous cementing properties. Bond Apatite has bioactive properties to regenerate bone.

Can the material be used after the implant has been placed and integrated, in order to thicken the bone at the second surgery site?

Augma Bone Graft Cement is an excellent and effective way to enlarge the bony width around the implants.

Can there be an issue if waiting for more than 4-5 months between augmentation and implant placement? (For example, one year)

The graft volume is optimum at 3-4 months, but the regenerated bone is immature and is still undergoing mineralization. Waiting longer to place an implant will result in regenerated volume reduction.

How thick should the graft material be applied on top of the implant at the initial placement?

Cover the socket and the implant and overfill (1-2 mm).

Is there a specific implant torque used in Augma-grafted bone?

There are no specific torque indications. Use the same torque as with native bone according to the bone type.

Can Augma bone graft cement be used with immediate implant placement?

Augma Bone cement is a bone regenerative material. Thus, if an implant is placed in an osteotomy, with a bony defect or gap within the bony frame, Bond Apatite bone graft cement can be placed to augment and regenerate the bone around the implant.

I used bond apatite today for the first time and it didn’t harden at all at the surgical site, and kept almost flowable about 20 minutes.
    How could that be?

    Augma says:

In order for the material to harden properly it should be used as follows:
During activation the shaft of the syringe should be advanced until the first piston reaches the blue line. Then the cap is removed, and the material should be injected into the site. Immediately place on it a dry gauze, not too folded, simply in two layers. Then press strongly with a finger on top of the gauze for 3 seconds, and again with a periosteal elevator for an additional 3 seconds. That’s all you need to do and the material will set instantly. It will never be hard like a stone, but it is definitely stable. During suturing, if the material breaks, place a dry gauze on it and press for one second before continuing to suture.

If the material didn’t harden, it’s probably because the pressure with the gauze was not done immediately. As such, the crystals are soaked with blood and it will not set properly, and will be flowable.
